Hanifaru Bay, Baa Atoll

Raa Atoll

Raa Atoll is a strong option if you want a place with year-round manta potential rather than a very narrow seasonal window. Mantas glide across Raa Atoll year-round, with the west side stronger from December to April and the east side stronger from May to November. It specifically names Sola Corner and Maamunagau Falhu in the northeast season, and Kottefaru, Vandhoo, and Neyo in the southwest season.

This makes Raa especially appealing for repeat Maldives travelers or people who want a quieter alternative to the most famous manta routes.

Addu Atoll

Addu Atoll is one of the better southern options for manta encounters. Addu is “the place to be” for diving and snorkeling enthusiasts and highlights manta rays among the marine life found there. If you want the most famous manta experience, choose Baa Atoll and plan around season. If you want more variety across the year, look at Raa Atoll or Addu Atoll.
