Fees

Taxes & service charges: Stays in the Maldives are generally subject to a 10% service charge and Tourism Goods & Services Tax (TGST). For tourism-sector services such as accommodation and most extras, TGST is currently 17% following the nationwide increase effective in 2025. Unless clearly shown as inclusive or net, service charge and TGST are added to the final bill.

Green Tax: For guesthouses and smaller hotels on inhabited islands, the Maldives Green Tax is generally USD 6 per person per night for guests aged 2 years and above. Children under 2 years old are exempt. This charge is usually collected by the property and applies to each payable night of stay.
