Taxes & service charges: Stays in the Maldives are generally subject to a 10% service charge and Tourism Goods & Services Tax (TGST). For tourism-sector services such as accommodation and most extras, TGST is currently 17% following the nationwide increase effective in 2025. Green Tax: For guesthouses and smaller hotels on inhabited islands, the Maldives Green Tax is generally USD 6 per person per night for guests aged 2 years and above. Children under 2 years old are exempt. This charge is usually collected by the property and applies to each payable night of stay.

Transfers: For local-island stays, transfers are usually arranged by scheduled speedboat, public ferry or private speedboat on request. Exact timings and prices depend on your international flight, sea conditions and the island route, and are normally confirmed after booking.
